"SCHETELIG" HISTORY

Oscar Schetelig was born in 1880 in Germany, in Lübeck in the family of Henry and Augusta (maiden name Paulig) Shetelig. The family had six children and Oscar was the fifth child..

When the 1899 Oscar Schetelig was 19 years old, he was sent to Finland for assistance conditional to his uncle, Gustave Pauligu.

He joined the firm Paulig led by Karl Mitterhusena. Karl had a daughter Elizabeth (Ellie) who in 1907 became the wife of Oscar.

В начале Первой мировой войны в связи с немецкими корнями, Оскар был вынужден переехать обратно в Германию. Семья, через Швецию,  последовала вслед за ним. В Германии Оскар занимался обучением финских егерей и выполнял некоторые секретные поручения под псевдонимом Шафер. Так же во время войны ему пришлось участвовать в боях на восточном фронте.

At the beginning of the First World War in connection with German roots, Oscar was forced to move back to Germany. The family, through Sweden, followed after him. After the war the family had returned to Finland. At this time around was a shortage, there was not even eating. The photograph of the time they all look very thin.

The daughters were studying in Helsinki, where he finally received schooling. Shortly thereafter, when Wall Street crash of the Exchange, the world has a great economic crisis of 1929. Oscar has also suffered from a lost part of its capital.

WORLD WAR II AND THE DEATH OF OSCAR. HELGA BECOMES A HEAD OF THE COMPANY

During and after the Second World War, business of Schetelig Oscar suffered a devastating collapse. He could barely barely gave money to the existence of the family.

Postwar evil time and currency shortage hampered the development of flower sale. Business developed with great difficulty.

In 1949, Oscar became ill and died. This happened only two months after the conversion the agents office in company Oy Schetelig Ab.


His work began to continue the eldest daughter, Helga, although she had absolutely no agricultural education or experience in this field.

Helga all still persistently studied the industry and the customers visited by train, bus, bicycle or on foot. .

The company began to grow and Helga increasingly began to go to the suppliers in Central and Eastern Europe.
